Post Jobs and Towns concept

Me and my bro agreed on and conceived this idea together, here it is:

What if you could make a town in Guild Wars, limit one per Guild, the creator of which would automatically (not permanently, he may be ousted and someone else reassigned) become governer of and have the task of assigning real players to specific jobs? such as a crafter, to refine items! this would take real skill, and some practice, but say your bow broke, or you have a bad damage bow with good special attributes (I.E. +2 expertice) and you really want to save it? Well, make an appointment and take it to a crafter and he will take the bow, some crafting materials, and he can improve the bow to the best of his ability. Or to a blacksmith for a sword, etc... these things would be like a *third profession!* I am totally for it, but i want your opinions before i ask the GW team....
I know this could cause crowding, but what if you had different "districts" of towns? and a central directory for pricing and average "job well done" scores for the players?

I don??t think it would work. GW is about having fun instead of preparing for it (and they are doing an excellent job at this). I think GW is GW at is perfect and to bring that concept would ruin the cameplay.

I have to agree. It's cool idea for a game, but if they really wanted this in GW they would already have it. This does not fit in with what GW stands for. This is great for games that are more focused on the worth of items, time spent playing and grinding to become high level. Guild Wars is not one of those kinds of games.

What I would like to see are outfitters and other shops (not skill trainers, or maybe ones that only have skills that the current character can travel to a town to buy already) in the Guild Halls. This would mean less people in the towns, but it would also give the guild halls more of a purpose besides just the setting for GvG battles. Crafters would be as tough to put there as the Skill trainers tho, but it seems like outfitters and weaponsmiths would be something every guild hall could use. The henchmen are already there so it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to do.

if guildmembers did not have to go out it would result in less mixing and social interaction

Grr... I hate it when I don't find my oppinion in the poll. Didn't vote.

I don't think it's a good idea because I don't see the point. Your job isn't the be bordrous the outfitter. you are a hero on a long journey across Tyria, running from the Mantle, and such.

It would be nice to have a Village or at least a house for guild mates to hang out at. Improvements could be added by purchasing stuff from vendors or finding stuff during your adventures that you feel would be cool to have like hanging on the walls for example. Could have NPC's around doing day-to-day choirs (Money Sink) or adding another room to your place for a price of course. (Money Sink)
Wouldn???t it be neat if the houses were added to the Guild Hall and constructed like the villages in the explore areas. With six different Guild Halls, six different types of houses.

Don't get me wrong, I like the concept of the Guild Hall as a forming area for teams doing GvG. But it is not personal enough for a guild to call it home I think.

So you just want to make the Guildhalls into mini-towns? Useless. At first I thought you wanted to bring something new to the table, but you proved me wrong. Henchmen are there to bring to battle (for those that choose). Why would you need a crafter or outfitter, etc, if you can find them in towns and outposts? Unless there's some customization you can do to them through questing, PvP and/or GvG that unlocks items/skills/etc (not to say I am promoting this), it would be pointless.

Yeah, see, I just don't get this. How exactly would you "hang out" in this "house" of yours? Have all the characters stand there, staring at each other? Perhaps spamming emotes at each other every once and a while?

Many people suggested this, but it just doesn't make any sense to me. This game isn't a traditional RPG and they aren't going to make it one.

Ok, ok my idea stands corrected...
however, i agree with Fenix, i think that would be handy: stand the following situation: You are in the middle of a solo PvE: you are called by the Guild leader to get into the Guild Hall: you can simuntaneusly sell your items and get there at the same time... instead of going to town *then*he guild hall.

I think this would be a very cool idea if it was optional and not an integral part of the game. What I mean is that a guild can choose to do this. That way people who would enjoy it can have a lot of fun doing it, but people (like a few of you posters) who think it "sucks" don't have to do it.

It would also be a good way for a guild to make a business (so to speak) by charging lower prices than NPCs to do these things. That way the money goes to the guild willing to work for it.

How it would work in practice I cound't say, but IMO it is a very good idea at base.

Yes, let's make major changes to gameplay less than a month before release.
(For that matter, I would hate for this to be added to any chapters too, I don't see the point in making so major changes to the gameplay or the point of making Guildwars into Simcity.)

Could open up mini games for example like gambling or archery range or a way of testing skills on straw filled dummies.

This is just a thought on making the game more interesting realistic in role-playing.
I???m sure someone can come up with ideas that would make having a guild house fun and enjoyable to spend time at.

So you are saying because you have a guild you should be able to buy things for cheaper? How can you make a business if the selling would be going on in the guild hall... where only that guild can go? I'm afraid I don't see the logic here. Maybe I don't understand or you just don't explain yourself enough for my satisfaction.

If the guild had to quest or PvP/GvG for it, then that would be cool. A way to customize your guildhall with mini-games or other similiar features. I don't think it's necessary or really would make it more realistic in role-playing, but would just be a reward for guilds who emphasize teamwork and not just winning.

Isn't the Guild Hall pretty much that?
